Emmanuel Finds A Home At Moukondo Orphanage

11/08/2010 16:35

At Africa Imports, a percentage of the money we make goes towards supporting the Moukondo Orphanage in Congo. We pay for the cost of meals and expenses for about 200 orphan children. Here’s what a friend of ours who works with the orphanage said when she sent us this photo: Emmanuel

"This is little Emmanuel. He has just been at the orphanage for one week. His single mom was in the field preparing manioc - an open pit fire that then exploded for some reason and she lost her life. She had 3 children that she had placed a distance away from her otherwise they too would have lost their lives. All the 3 children had different fathers - Emmanuel is the only one sent to Moukondo. One of them is very ill and is in the hospital. They are uncertain of his age - around 2 years. Thank you for giving and giving!!"

We urge you to continue to keep orphans like Emmanuel in your thoughts and prayers. While many children are abandoned because their mothers have no way to support them, there are also hundreds of thousands of children in the Congo that have been left without parents because of the civil war. There are millions of orphaned children in Africa due to wars, natural disasters, AIDS, malaria and other diseases. Less than 1% of foreign orphans will ever be adopted.
