How to Make Natural SunscreenIf you love the summertime but hate worrying about the harsh chemicals from in commercial sunscreens, don't stress! We have the perfect solution for you. Most people don't know this, but there are butters and oils that naturally provide protection against the sun's rays—all while nourishing and maintaining healthy skin. Here is a simple recipe for whipping up your own batch of homemade sunscreen. Enjoy your fun in the sun!

Ingredients: 1 oz coconut oil 2 tbsp + 1 tsp shea butter ½ tbsp jojoba, sesame, or sunflower oil ½ tbsp almond or olive oil 3 tbsp zinc oxide - (Can be purchased in a powder form. This makes a SPF of 20+. Can be adjusted according to desired protection level. Measurements below) 

Other optional essential oils (ab ½ tbsp each): - Aloe Vera - Vitamin E - Carrot Seed Oil 1. Combine coconut oil, shea butter, and jojoba/sesame/sunflower oil inside small glass bowl and set inside a pot with a few inches of water (also may use a double boiler) 2. Allow butters/oils to melt on a low heat 3. Remove from heat and allow it to cool a bit 4. Measure out desired zinc oxide and combine with shea butter mixture 5. Add almond/olive oil (and any other desired essential oils) 6. Stir well and store in sealed container in the refrigerator To use, apply amble amounts to skin before heading into the sun. Reapply as needed. Shelf life- approx. 6 months Store in refrigerator
