Shea Butter and Winter Skin Care

We all have things we may love or hate about winter. The Christmas and Kwanzaa holidays, hot cocoa, snowball fights...but one thing many people dread is the ensuing dry skin and chapped lips. Bitter winds and dry air make for parched, itchy and irritated skin. Luckily there are some things you can do to help.
1. Invest in a Humidifier This will help put moisture back in the air that heating takes away. Having a humidifier will help balance out the moisture in the air, and this is much better for your skin. It can also help prevent colds!
2. Reduce the Heat in Your Shower or Bath We know a hot, bubbly bath or hot shower is so refreshing in the cold winter months, however if you are suffering from dry skin it will only make the problem worse. Instead, try to make your bath or shower warm instead of hot.
3. Use a Strong Moisturizer Shea butter is as good as you can get when it comes to softening winter skin. While regular moisturizers are better than nothing, they will only last for a short amount of time. Shea butter provides a moisture barrier that protects your skin against the elements and just one application can last all day. It can also be used as a lip balm to heal those chapped, cracked lips. If you want to get even softer skin, try putting a spoonful of shea butter into your bath water. After soaking in your bath, you will notice your skin is visibly and surprisingly soft. If you do this in combination with applying shea butter you may have softer skin than you do even in the warm summer months. Give it a try! Want to find more info about shea butter? Just Click Here.
