Celebrate Ethiopia and the Rastafarian movement with this Rasta (Lion Of Judah) Ethiopia Flag 3x5. The flag has green, gold, and red stripes. Green represents the land of Jamaica and the hope of eliminating suppression. Red represents the blood spilled fighting for freedom in Jamaica. Gold symbolizes the wealth and minerals of Ethiopia. The lion of Judah in the center represents the first Emperor of Ethiopia in 1930, Haile Selassie.
Multiple versions of the Ethiopian flag exist, but this lion of Judah version, used officially from 1897 to 1974, remains popular with the Rastafarian movement to this day. Rastafarianism is a religious and political movement beginning in Jamaica. It developed after Haile Selassie's crowning as Emperor of Ethiopia in 1930. They believed this crowning fulfilled a Biblical prophecy. Many Rastas considered him to be the Messiah, though Selassie himself disputed this.
The Rastafarian movement was a response to colonial control and slavery. Rastafarians focus on regaining the strength of the African people all over the world in order to fight what they call Babylonian control, and to return to the land of Zion, which they believe to be Ethiopia.
If you’re Ethiopian, a part of the Rastafarian movement, or just agree with their ideals, this flag is for you. It’s great for both indoor and outdoor decoration. Show the world what you believe with this Lion of Judah Ethiopian flag. FL-Rasta
