About Talking Drum - 10"

Talking Drum. A traditional musical instrument found in Africa. Even today, the variable sound made by striking the talking drum can be heard throughout rural areas. The talking drum is normally held underneath the arm and struck with a small curved stick. The strings around the drum pull the hide tighter, so the more you squeeze, the higher the pitch. The drum surface is made of animal hide, while the chords are strung with rope, and the base is of hand-carved wood. 9-10" tall 4-5" diameter Traditionally most popular with African hunting to chase animals from the bush. Made in Mali.

**Slightly oversized item, no free shipping over $500 when ordering 12 or more drums. Will incur a $5 shipping charge on oversized orders over $500.
