How to Make Fabric Spray with Fragrance Oil

Freshen up your living space by using DIY fabric sprays, made with your favorite fragrance oils. In just a few minutes, you can mix up a spray that will reflect your individual taste better than anything you can buy at the supermarket.

All you need is a 16 oz. spray bottle, fragrance oil, and some form of alcohol. Some people like to dilute the spray by mixing alcohol and distilled water.

You can choose from three different kinds of alcohol:

  • High-proof vodka has no odor and is non-toxic.
  • Witch-hazel helps the fragrance oil dissolve evenly through the spray. It does have an odor of its own, which will combine with the fragrance oil.
  • Ordinary rubbing alcohol is another alternative. Like witch hazel, it has its own odor.

Put 20-40 drops of fragrance oil in the spray bottle. Start with the smaller amount, since you don’t know how strong the spray will be. Fill the bottle with 2 cups of alcohol or use 1 cup of alcohol and 1 cup of distilled water.

Shake the bottle well and spray. Your sofa and curtains will smell wonderful.
