Make a joyful sound with this traditional African instrument, made in Ghana from hollowed gourds and beads. There are beads inside the gourd and outside, attached to netting. They combine to make a sound that is similar to a maraca, but more complex. African slaves brought the shekere to Cuba, where it became part of the local jazz tradition. Add its distinctive rattle to your band or use it to amuse your children. Our shekeres come in small, medium, and large sizes. These medium shekeres are 10-12” long.
