Remembering Martyr's Day in Ethiopia - February 19th

Honoring Ethiopia 

Tomorrow we want to honor the thousands of Ethiopians that were massacred by the Italian invaders in 1936 in Addis Ababa. In a press release sent to The Ethiopian News Agency, the City Administration said various institutions including the Ethiopian Patriots' Association will lay wreaths to commemorate the day. In addition, a minute of silence will be observed while prayers are held at the Holy Trinity Church and Anwar Mosque in the capital in memory of the massacred Ethiopians, the administration said.

J. California Cooper is the author of several critically acclaimed novels, including, most recently, Some People, Some Other Place, and six collections of stories. She was honored as Black Playwright of the Year, and has received the American Book Award, the James Baldwin Writing Award, and the Literary Lion Award from the American Library Association.
