In most of Africa, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. On Father's Day, people express love and affection for their father and thank them for their support and guidance. As a tradition, children will also pamper their father by presenting sentimental gifts like cards, flowers, food, neckties or other presents their father would love to receive. Many people will go out for a picnic, fishing or for a meal in restaurant. Apart from private celebrations, several social and cultural societies in different countries in Africa will host a Father's Day celebration to stress the importance of fathers in nurturing children and building stronger society. In Uganda, Father's Day is celebrated on June 23rd. Other than this, from what I can tell, all other African countries celebrate it on the third Sunday in June, as we do in the US.
